Hold The Last Note Out

Lui Collins

Melody and harmony can soothe and warm a heart that’s weary
Yesterday the tunes were swirling ’round and ’round my head
But laying down to sleep alone the echoes faded from my mind
In silence louder than the songs I waited for the dawn.

But wakin’ up is easy when you have a smiling face before you
Yesterday the music filled my heart and let it sing.
Now everybody’s gone away, there’s only you and me.
Let’s hold the last note out and let it ring.

And though this song won’t last but a moment, the notes are full and strong
Open your heart, let’s sing it out, send the melodies rolling
Down the hill to the valley, let us sing the whole day long
And then we’ll hold the last note out and let it ring.

And wakin’ up is easy when you have a smiling face before you.
A cup of coffee with a song’s the way to start the day.
The sunshine spills from our guitars and dances in our ears
Let us fill the room with rainbows as we sing.

And though our song won’t last but a moment, the notes are full and strong
Open your heart, let’s sing it out, send the melodies rolling
Down the hill to the valley, let us sing the whole day long
And then we’ll hold the last note out and let it ring.
